Two residential wings accommodate three generations of a Korean-American family in West University Place. The north wing supports aging in place; the south contains spaces for a younger family. A glazed hall and shaded courtyard connect the two.

The house is elevated above the 500-year floodplain, with parking below the living level. Inverted grade beams span a mature elm’s root system. Flattened gables reconcile the raised floor level with the local height limit. Construction is underway.

“Double House carries a certain level of social, communal, and cultural agenda that sends out a great message for housing typology.”
